Two most popular and best phones - April 2021
Today I will be writing about the two major giants and market shareholders in the smartphone industry - Samsung and Apple! As most of you might be already aware of the competition nowadays these companies are facing, there are already many huge competitors like One Plus and Mi in the picture. It is always a neck-to-neck situation when the latest smartphones are revealed in the yearly events. I find it amazing that what all can fit in one small gadget and which we can carry wherever we want. Smartphones have become a necessity these days rather than a luxury as it was. Here I will be discussing the two best and most popular smartphones in 2021!
The show stoppers are :
-Samsung S21/S21 Plus
-Apple iPhone 12
Many who read this may have different mobile phones in their mind and also opinions may vary. I recommend keeping this write-up as a suggestion rather than a result for some competition.
Without any delay let's get to the main topic, one of the show stoppers -
"Samsung S21/S21 Plus" -
Talking about Samsung 'S'martphones, they are ramping up very fast in the world of OS upgrades every now and then. In recent times Samsung has been a game-changer in the UI version upgrades. Their latest UI 3.0 (based on Android 11) roll-out has been a great success overall. Bugs were fixed on time and as soon as possible. Kudos to the team working behind the releases. I personally use Samsung Galaxy S10, so I am providing you with feedback from the first-hand experience, the UI is crisp and clear, much lighter and faster, and user-friendly. Samsung is also adapting very quickly to the user feedback culture similar to One Plus. Visit the link for anymore further detailed information about One UI: https://www.samsung.com/in/apps/one-ui.
The latest Samsung S21/S21 Plus can be considered a very good choice if you are looking for upgrading your device to the latest one. Samsung fans are very excited about this masterpiece as it came with brilliant specs.
Mainly I would like to make a note about three main topics: Camera, Design, and Performance.
DESIGN:
Samsung's jaw-dropping design and display have always amazed everyone every year. This series of phones hold a splendid punch hole (infinity-o as Samsung names it) display with 6.7 inches display for S21+ and 6.2 inches display for S21 respectively.
The handsets' display is built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the company states that it is the toughest glass on a Samsung smartphone. The display is having a 120Hz refresh rate which makes it super smooth and the dynamic AMOLED 2X lights up the handset like a light bulb(no sarcasm intended, it's a fact). It comes in 4 different colours, Phantom Violet, Phantom Silver, Phantom Black, and Phantom Pink(this colour sounds interesting, Baby pink to Phantom Pink - what an evolution).
CAMERA:
The camera placed in this handset is totally a game-changer that can shoot videos in 8K. This is the highest resolution in a smartphone, which makes the video look better than a cinema. The image & video stabilization is marvellous, the combination of AI stabilization and 60fps capture- this is what every social media influencer, a vlogger, a mobile photographer, or a photography enthusiast would wish for! The handset has 3 rear cameras, 12MP Ultra-wide camera, 12MP Wide-angle camera, 64MP Telephoto camera, and 10MP front camera. So those people who like to capture moments in their lives would love to own this phone. To be ahead in the league Samsung is providing a 30x zoom which probably will be used rarely by the users.
PERFORMANCE:
The first thought that comes to our minds when we hear about performance is the battery capacity, the Galaxy S21 comes with 4000mAh, and Galaxy S21+ comes with 4800mAh battery power. I personally would have wanted a bit more battery power - pardon me for my greediness. The company provides Super Fast charging, Fast wireless charging 2.0, and Wireless power share. Wireless power share is actually a very good and interesting feature if you are open to help others by sharing some battery power. Coming to the chipsets being used in these handsets, both the phones are loaded with a Samsung Exynos 2100 chipset: Octa-core processor (3 cores clocked at 2.8GHz, 4 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and 1 core clocked at 2.9GHz) with 8 GB RAM. A beast in other words. There are mainly two variants for both the phones:- 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants.
Overall I will say it's a brilliant phone from Samsung, as always worth the title - "Flagship phone"
The next and the final show stopper -
"Apple iPhone 12" -
Apple as everyone knows is famous for the premium design and its marketing skills. Buying or owning an Apple smartphone is a status symbol these days TBH, but that is their USP(Unique Selling Proposition). The all-new iPhone 12 is yet another good upgrade for all the iPhone lovers as they have a different design this time - no more round edges. The company states that this phone is lighter, thinner and smaller than other models.
So coming to the specifics :
The top features for this phone -
1) Fast performance
2) Great design
3) Vibrant display
There are mainly 3 memory variants for iPhone 12:- 64GB, 128GB and 256GB variants. This handset comes in 5 fresh finishes and looks stunning in those vibrant shades. iPhone 12 has a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR display. The tech giant states that their display is the best amongst all iPhone models, with vastly more contrast, incredible colour accuracy and huge pixel density(460 PPI). The ceramic shield as mentioned by Apple has 4 times better drop performance, which makes the handset more sturdy. The aluminium edges also add to the strong built of the phone. It is also better spill and splash resistant(IP68 Water resistance).
Stating the performance picture - the iPhone 12 is loaded with an A14 Bionic chipset which is the fastest chipset in a smartphone as per Apple. As per the company, it's super-fast, super smooth and super-efficient for great battery life. The chipset can handle trillions of operations which is thrown at it with absolute ease. The iPhone 12 Pro(elder sibling) also holds the same chipset, so comparatively at a cheaper price, you are getting a phone with the same performance as the higher-end handset.
Now coming to the Camera, this phone has two cameras both Wide and Ultra-wide cameras in the rear(12MP + 12MP) and a front-facing camera(12MP). There are a lot more improvements in capturing photos in low light conditions. Photography enthusiasts may dig it for sure. A lot of portraits taken by the iPhone camera by various photographers are available on Apple's Instagram handle, go check it out for further clarity and confirmation. Videography also has been a major upgrade for this handset as you can record 4K HDR videos with Dolby Vision(Check out the link to know more about Dolby vision: https://www.dolby.com/technologies/dolby-vision/). Your videos will obviously have a cinematic experience.
So concluding with an insight that this phone would be a good upgrade for the people who are already in the Apple ecosystem, but to the people who are thinking to move or migrate to the ecosystem would have to think twice as Apple has taken a new initiative to reduce the carbon footprint, so the box contains only the handset and the USB-C cable, rest of the accessories have been removed. So plan for some extra bucks to buy the remaining accessories which are required.
Hope this information about both smartphones is helpful to you in your research to upgrade to a new handset in 2021!
Happy shopping and happy upgrading.
Ciao!
